Bill Malambri

Winthrop University, Emeritus Professor of Music/Director of Bands

• BIO

  Bill Malambri is a native of Fairmont, North Carolina. He holds degrees from UNC-Pembroke (B.S.), East Carolina University (M.M.), and the University of South Carolina (D.M.A.) where he was a student of Dr. William J. Moody. He is Emeritus Professor of Music/Director of Bands at Winthrop University, and is Founder and Emeritus Principal Conductor of the Carolinas Wind Orchestra.
  
  Conducting, clinician, adjudication, and consultation assignments have taken Dr. Malambri to 23 states, and 14 foreign nations. Included are performances with the U.S. Army Band, Army Field Band, Navy Band, Air Force Band, Continental Army Band, Second Infantry Division Band (Republic of Korea), Bergen District Army Band (Norway), and the Russian Admiralty Band (St. Petersburg). Domestic assignments have included concerts by the Carolinas Wind Orchestra for the annual conventions of the American Bandmasters Association (twice), the Southern Division convention of NAfME, and South Carolina and North Carolina music educators conventions. Clinician services have been provided for All-State Bands in North Carolina, North Dakota, and South Dakota, and clinician/conductor invitations for university sponsored honor bands have been fulfilled in South Dakota, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio, and Tennessee.
  
  Professional affiliations include membership in the prestigious American Bandmasters Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. The National Band Association has twice awarded him with their Citation of Excellence, and the Theta Chapter of Phi Beta Mu honored him with the Outstanding Contributor award for service to bands.
