Bio:

Dr. Richard House is an Associate Professor of Music, Director of Bands, and Trumpet Teacher at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina.  He began this position in August 2011.  Dr. House has held similar band directing and teaching positions at Claflin (SC) University (2006-2011), Augusta (GA) State University (2001-2006), and Bridgewater (VA) College (1997-2001).  With over 17 years experience teaching at the college/university level, he has taught a wide variety of music classes including: Wind Ensemble, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Brass Ensemble, Brass Methods, Conducting, Music Appreciation, and a number of different Music Education classes.  Before graduate school, Richard worked as a band director for 7 years at the following public schools: Ligon (Raleigh, NC) Middle School (1988-1993), Enloe (Raleigh, NC) High School (1988-1990), and Chesterfield (SC) High and Middle Schools (1986-1988).  Dr. House continues to be an active professional trumpet performer.  He has performed with Symphony Orchestra Augusta (GA), the Charleston (SC) Symphony Orchestra, the Shenandoah Valley (VA) Bach Festival Orchestra, and wedding, church service, and recital performances.    His degrees include a Doctor of Musical Arts in Instrumental Music (1998) and Masters in Trumpet Performance (1995) both from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (1986) from East Carolina University.
