Bio:

Monte Dunnum is currently the Director of Bands at the Westby Area School District, representing Westby-Coon Valley and Chaseburg in Western WI.  While at Westby (22  years), Dunnums bands have consistently achieved high ratings at Local and State Music Festivals and have been selected to perform at various State Conventions and Conferences. Although Westby High School is small at a total 9-12 enrollment of about 350 students, the Westby High School Band consistently has a membership of about 170 students or nearly 1/2 of the student population.  Monte has served as National President of the American School Band Directors Association, a member of Boards of Directors for the Wisconsin School Music Association and National Band Association-Wisconsin Chapter.  Monte has been a guest conductor at various High School and Middle School honors bands in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Tennessee.   His sessions on Creating and Maintaining High Enrollment in Band and Small School Marching Band Success were highly attended and very well received at the WI Music Educators Conference the past two years.  Monte and his wife Peg live on a farm in Western WI.  Children include Brian (Junior at UW-Madison), Sam (Freshman at UW-Madison) and Laura (Jr. at Westby High School).
